Before, the use of police bullet proof vest is restricted only to police officers and military officers. The ballistic vests are manufactured strictly for these law enforcers and military organizations. However, because of the need to protect one’s safety, these bullet proof vests are allowed for the public, thus, anyone who can afford it, can buy it.

The police bullet proof vest can be used also by civilians for protection purposes. The common civilian users of this ballistic vest are the politicians, taxi drivers, businessmen, journalists, and those who are involved in a recreational hunting. There are sports as well that requires the use of the police bullet proof vest, thus, the players are allowed to use these protection vests.

However, there is a law that limits the user of the police bullet proof vest. The law prohibits those who have criminal past from buying and using a protective vest. It is also illegal to use a protective vest if one is attempting to do any crime. If the authority found out that a person is wearing a police bullet proof vest while doing a crime, the punishment will be harsher. For example, if one is caught wearing a protective vest while attempting to kill somebody, instead of 5 years in jail, his punishment may be 10 years in jail plus a certain amount of money.

There is indeed a law that regulates the sale of the police bullet proof vest. The problem is that this law is not strictly implemented. There is no background check required for the buyer, thus, the seller cannot determine if he or she has a clean criminal record. As a result, the seller will always end up assuming that the buyer will use ballistic vest for legal purposes. Because the background of the buyer of the police bullet proof vest is not verified, the faith system between the seller and the buyer is used.

When to Use a Police Bullet Proof Vest?

The police officers will be totally safe if each one of them is always wearing a police bullet proof vest on their daily tasks. However, the police officers wear only their bullet proof vests when they are going somewhere. On a regular day, their protective vests are stocked in their lockers or at the supply room. Thus, the ballistic vest is really needed. Examples of these dangerous operations include catching a high-profile criminal, raiding a drug house and other illegal establishments, saving hostages from kidnappers or robbers, and others. If the police officer is not wearing a police bullet proof vest on these operations, he or she could be shot and that might cause a severe injury to him or her or even cause his or her death.

But this time, the concealable bullet proof vest is used so that the officer can trick his or her target. Normally, as an undercover agent, a police officer needs to act like he is a civilian. In order to protect himself, he should wear a police bullet proof vest.

A police officer should also wear a police bullet proof vest when escorting VIPs such as the high-ranking officials of the country. Sometimes, these officials are the target of assassination. When a police officer is assigned to escort that VIP, his or her life may be in danger as well. And, as an escort, it is his or her duty to risk his or her life. For protection, a police bullet proof vest must be worn.

The hand gun is used in case the police officer needs to fire to stop or control the situation. The taser, on the other hand, is an electroshock weapon that is used to neutralize the suspect. The police handcuffs are used to lock the suspect and prevent them from escaping. Lastly, the police bullet proof vest is used to protect the life of the officer in case there is a shooting incident.

Because of the nature of the work of the police officers, every policeman should have a police bullet proof vest. The primary purpose of this bullet proof vest is to keep them safe from bullet shots and stabs. The bullet proof vest should not be issued only to field police officers but to police officers who are assigned in the office too because sometimes, they are unexpectedly pulled out as well to join in a highly dangerous operation. For them to be comfortable, they can use the soft police bullet proof vest because this type of ballistic vest is lighter and more flexible, thus giving them the freedom to move around.
